- Obstacles are often encountered in the business of catfish farming which is high attack disease and high feed needs. Catfish farmers tend to be dependent on the commercial feed due to the absence of alternative feed that can replace commercial feed. Therefore, it is necessary to promote the productivity of catfish cultivation, among others, through the use of nutrients in fish feed effectively and efficiently. The utilization of feed effectively and efficiently can be improved among other ways by utilizing probiotics. The research was conducted in May-July 2019 in Fisheries laboratory and Nutrition Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture-Livestock University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The aim of the study was to determine the influence of Probiona's administration of protein retention, the growth and survival rate of Dumbo catfish (Clarias gariepinus), as well as to determine the optimal treatment concentration. The methods used in the study are experimental methods as well as Randomized Complete Design (RAL) 1 factor with 4 treatments (0 ml/kg, 15 ml/kg, 30 ml/kg, 45 ml/kg) and 3 repeats. The Data obtained is analyzed using diversity analysis (ANAVA), if there are differences in Probiona administration influence treatment conducted BNT test with real level 5%. Results showed that Probiona administration at different dosages gave a noticeable effect on the rate of growth, whereas the toxic anolysis of protein retention and survival showed no distinct results. The best value of growth rate gained in the treatment of 3 (30 ml/kg concentration) is 14.61 gr. The best survival is gained in the treatment of 1 (0 ml/kg) of 100%, and the best protein retention is gained in the 2nd treatment of 4.60%. Average – Average water quality measurement results (pH, DO and temperature) throughout the treatment is at the normal range of pH 7.75; DO 5.88 mg/L; Temperature 26,03 °c. Based on the results of the study can be concluded that the introduction of Probiona in the feed can affect the growth rate of Dumbo catfish (Clarias gariepinus) with an optimal dose at a concentration of 30 ml/kg.
