Daftar Isi:
- Lead metal (Pb) is one of the elements contained in industrial waste which can pollute the aquatic environment. The alternative method that can be applied to overcome this water pollution is phytoremediation. This method involves water plants as natural absorbents. Aquatic plants such as Pistia stratiotes, Salvinia molesta, and Azolla microphylla can form binding compounds namely fitokhelatin, so they can survive in polluted conditions. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in types of aquatic plants and soaking time in absorbing lead metals. This type of research is True Experimental Research. The design of this study used a complete random design. Aquatic plants (Pistia stratiotes, Salvinia molesta, and Azolla microphylla) and soaking time (0 days, 3 days, 6 days, 9 days and 12 days) with two times repetitions. The samples used were 30 samples of aquatic plants. The data of lead metal profile is acquired from the roots of Pistia stratiotes, Salvinia molesta, and Azolla microphylla. The data analysis technique used is the two way anava test and the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) test with a significance level of 5%. The results showed that there was effect of aquatic plants and soaking period on the absorption of lead metal. The highest absorption of lead metal is expressed by Salvinia molesta with 9 days of soaking with an average value of 0.9142 ppm. While the lowest value average was Salvinia molesta control treatment with 0.0592 ppm. The results of the analysis using the DMRT test showed that the best type of water plant in absorbing lead metal was Salvinia molesta with 9 days of soaking period, yet it was not significantly different from 6 days period of soaking treatment. The results of this study can be used as a source of learning biology.
