  • This research us es Classroom Action Research method. To get the data, the writer observed and interviewed the student and the teacher, the test for students, and group discussion as teaching method. The research was conducted based on the statements of problems as follow: 1). How is students reading skill? 2). How is guided reading method applied to improve the students reading skill?. In reference to the after mentioned research problems, the objectives this research are 1). To know the improve of students reading skill. 2). To know whether guided reading can be used to improve the students Junior High School of MTs MadarijulUlumTaktakan - Serang.The purpose is to find out the improvement of students’ reading skill through guided reading. This research has conducted in Junio r High School of MTs MadarijulUlumTaktakan, Serang from 09 th January until 19 th January 2015. The instrument of this research was a test. The result of this research, there was the improvement of students reading skill. Each cycle has different score thos e were: in the cycle 1, from 30 students the highest score was 68 and the lowest score was 55. The result is 60,26 (C/Fair). In the cycle II the highest score was 83 and the lowest score was 67. The result is 75,7 (B/Good). Finally from those result the wr iter concluded that teaching reading through guided reading could improve students’ reading skill. It means that teaching reading skill by guided reading would be better and more effective that reading skill without guided reading.
