  • Fish glue adhesive is a substance made from the skin and bones extraction of fish that contain collagen, which can be hydrolyzed in hot water and dilute acid to form a fish glue. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of phosphoric acid concentration and demineralization time on the glue quality from mackerel bone. The method used in the procedure of making glue from mackerel bone in this study consisted of: sample preparation, degreasing stage, demineralization, washing, extraction and concentration solution of glue. This study was conducted by two independent variables are the concentration of phosphoric acid (1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, 5%) and the time of demineralization (24 hours and 48 hours) and a variable fixed at the extraction temperature at 70 ° C. Parameters observed in this study among which smell and color, pH, moisture content, ash content, aggregation, and yield. the results of this analysis, the yield of 10-28%; adhesion of 4.5 to 21 N / mm2, value pH 4-6, from 39.48 to 43.75% moisture content, ash content from 6.37 to 12.85%. Best treatment combination that is, at a concentration of 5% phosphoric acid and demineralization time at 48 hours with color of glue is brown caramel and pH 4, moisture content at 39,48 %, ash content at 6,37 %, adhesion at 12,25 N/mm2 and the yield at 8,28 %.
