- This objective of this research was to determine the characteristics of tapioca-based bioplastics with the addition of glycerol and cellulose from durian (Durio zibethinus Murr.) rind. This experiment was designed as a factorial completely randomized design with two factors and each treatment was repeated three times. The first factor was cellulose concentration (0%, 10%, 20% w/w) and the second factor was glycerol concentration (10%, 20%, 30% v/w). The parameters included thickness, tensile strength, elongation, modulus young, water resistance, decomposition rate. The results showed that the treatment of cellulose concentration, glycerol concentration, and the interaction between the two factors significantly affected the thickness, tensile strength, elongation, modulus young, water resistance, and decomposition rate. The best treatment based on the SNI 7188-7:2016 was found to be in S1G1 treatment (10% cellulose and 10% glycerol) with the characteristics of bioplastic for thickness (0.16 mm), 75.44 MPa of tensile strength, 28.16% of elongation, 267,69 MPa of modulus young, 19.51% of water resistance, and decomposition rate test results 16.41% (decomposed 100% within 37 days).
