  • Machining conditions and coolant is the most important parameter that affects the results of surface roughness. To improve product quality from machining results we must also consider the environmental issue by looking for alternative coolant that environmentally friendly. The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of the machining process and vegetable coolant on surfaceroughness in miling process. The study is limited to the effect of cutting speed, feeding speed and the type of vegetable coolant used to get the surface roughness value (Ra) using a CCD (Central Composite Disign) carried 12 times of testing and 4 times repetition at its center. This process is done using a vertical milling machine. From the test results showed that the vegetable cooling fluid is proven can be used on the machining processes and at the same machining condition value of the surface roughness (Ra) on a machining process that uses coconut oil coolant is lower than palm oil.
