  • Indonesia is experiencing an increase in the number of the elderly population and the life expectancy of the elderly from year to year. A common problem that occurs in the elderly is the lack of nutrition that affects the nutritional status of the elderly, causing health problems such as dementia. This study aims to determine the description of dementia based on nutritional status in the elderly in Tista Village, Kerambitan District, Tabanan Regency. This study uses a cross sectional method with 43 samples. The results of this study indicate that those who are at risk of malnutrition are more likely to have dementia with probable cognitive impairment (81.8%) than normal dementia status (28.1%). It can be concluded that there is a tendency that the elderly at risk of malnutrition are more likely to have dementia with a cognitive impairment than normal dementia status. Thus it is recommended that the Tista Village Chief maintain or even increase, the frequency and time of activities to support the elderly program for example such as healthy walking in each activity, elderly gymnastics, and cleaning the environment where the activities are carried out so as to improve fitness and health in the elderly in Tista Village.
