The research describes teacher’s effort to overcome difficulties in students’ listening skill of the Twelfth Grade of Madrasah Aliyah Pekapuran Raya Banjarmasin academic year 2017/2018. The problems of the research are: 1) What are students’difficulties in listening skill of the twelfth grade of Madrasah Aliyah Al-Istiqomah Pekapuran Raya?, 2) What are teacher’s effort to overcome students’ listening difficulties of the twelfth grade of Madrasah Aliyah Al-Istiqomah Pekapuran Raya?, and 3) What factors do influence the teacher’s effort to overcome students’ listening skill difficulties of the twelfth grade of Madrasah Aliyah Al-Istiqomah Pekapuran Raya? The subject of the research is one English teacher at the twelfth grade of Madrasah Aliyah Al-Istiqomah Pekapuran Raya Banjarmasin. The object of the research are difficulties in students’ listening skill, teacher’s effort to overcome difficulties in students’ listening skill, and factors which influence the teachers’ effort to overcome students’ listening skill difficulties of the twelfth grade of Madrasah Aliyah Al-Istiqomah Pekapuran Raya Banjarmasin academic year 2017/2018. To collect the data the researcher uses the techniques of observation, interview, questionnaire, and documentary. All of the data that have been collected are processed using the descriptive qualitative method. The result of the research shows the students’ difficulties are students unfamiliarity with the listening lesson, student can not concentrate to study listening, and the condition of tape recorder is not good enough. Teacher’s effort are teacher order students’ practice to listening to music or news, teacher order students’ practice listening anything used English language to familiarize concentration and, and the teacher will be a native speaker instead when the tape recorder is broken. The factors that influence the teachers’ effort to overcome students difficulties the most is the low ability of students’ listening.
