Keywords: Visual Media, descriptive text, writing The problem formulation of this research are: How does the teacher use of visual media in teaching descriptive text at the second grade of MTsN 2 Gambut?, How is the students’ response toward the use of visual media in teaching descriptive text at the second grade of MTsN 2 Gambut? The subject of this research is English teacher and students of class VIII a on the second grade of MTsN 2 Gambut academic years 2014/2015. The object of the research is the use of visual media in teaching writing descriptive text by the teacher. The data is collected by using techniques such as observation, questionnaire, interview, and documentary. Data processing in this research is divided into four phases: editing, coding, classifying, and interpreting. The result of this research shows that the teacher’s activity in using the visual media in teaching at the second grade of MTsN 2 Gambut is run well. The students are more motivated to learn in the class, they have more confidence, and they are more active in class activity.
