Daftar Isi:
- The research activity was held in January 2019 until February 2019 at the Fisheries Laboratory of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the thyroxine hormone (T4) on feed on the growth and survival rate of carp (Cyprinus carpio). The material used in this study is carp (Cyprinus carpio), fresh water, thyroxine hormone (T4), and feed. The tools used include aquarium, aerator, hose and aeration, seser, sipon hose, feed container, spray, analytical scales, ruler, thermometer, pH indicator, and DO meter. The method used in this research is the experimental method. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments, each treatment repeated 3 times randomly randomized replications, including: (1) control (without hormone), (2) 15 mg thyroxine hormone/kg feed, (3) 25 mg of thyroxine hormone/kg feed, and (4) 35 mg of thyroxine hormone/kg of feed. The parameters to be tested include weight growth, daily growth rate (SGR), and survival rate (SR). In addition, there are supporting parameters, namely water quality parameters, including temperature, pH, and DO. Data analysis technique in this research is by using ANOVA (Analysis of Variance). The results showed that the best GR (Growth Rate) value was in the C treatment with the dose of the hormone thyroxine 25 mg/kg of feed with a GR average of 30,53 grams. Furthermore, the ANOVA test results also showed that treatment C was the best treatment compared to other treatments at SGR (Significant Growth Rate). The mean value of SGR in treatment C (25 mg/kg of feed) was 2,83%. The SR (Survival Rate) results show that the treatment results did not have a significant effect on the survival rate of carp. So it can be concluded that treatment C (25 mg/kg of feed) is the best treatment to increase GR and SGR. This research is expected to be able to provide additional knowledge and information to the wider community or carp entrepreneurs in order to increase the production of carp that has quality, quantity, continuity and can compete in the domestic and international markets.
