- Artificial spawning by delaying fertilization is a way to obtain seed supply later when the spawning season is not available in catfish. This delay is done by storing sperm and eggs outside the body of the fish. When the time of spawning catfish is outside the time or spawning season, sperm and eggs can be used during spawning. Delay fertilization affects the quality of catfish sperm and eggs, where the longer the sperm and eggs are stored outside the body of the fish, the quality will decrease so that affects the rate of fertilization and hatching rate of catfish eggs. Delay fertilization can only be done no more than 1 hour, because the fertilization rate of eggs can only be up to the first hour ie an average of 31.6 fertilized eggs, while the hatching rate cannot be done more than 1 hour because the eggs at the first hour able to hatch with an average of 46 eggs that hatch.
