- Organic waste can be used as compost and animal feed ingredients. However, utilization of organic waste can also be used as a growth medium for maggot or black army fly larvae (Hermetia illucens L.) that can be used as animal feed. Feed innovations are needed by the breeders community in reducing the cost of spending their livestock feed needs. One of the way is by utilizing the cultivation of maggot (Hermetia illuens L.). The purpose of the research is to determine the effect of feeding on the weight and levels of maggot protein (Hermetia illucens L.). The study began in July to August 2019. This research use the True experimental method of a quantitative approach, this experimental design use The Posttest only control group design using 24 research samples. There are two groups of subjects namely the treatment and control groups. The treatment group included 1gr magot 1kg leftover rice media, 1gr magot 1kg leftover media fruits, and 1gr magot 1kg leftover vegetables. Based on the results of laboratory tests using the Kjeldhal method, and statistical analysis using the one-way ANOVA test, the results obtained from this research is the most effective treatment to increase the weight of the media treatment of rice scraps, vegetable scraps, fruits scraps and control . The average value in a row that is 4.50gr, 4.25gr, 4.18gr and 3.24gr. As for the most effective results in the test levels of maggot protein (Hermetia illucens L.) is the treatment of rice residue media, which is an average value of 39.23%. The results of this study can be used as feed innovation for breeders, and as a source of learning at Vocational High School of animal husbandry.
