- Schizophrenia ranks 4 of 10 as the largest diseases that imposes in the world. Schizophrenia patients need the families support who are able to provide optimal care. But the family as the primary support system often have a heavy burden in providing care at home. The design of this study is qualitative with case study approach. The sampling method used was purposive sampling. Samples are chosen from three participants from a family who take care of two family members with schizophrenic at home. The research data is retrieved by using observation and semi-structured interviews. After the tabulated data were analyzed using domain analysis. The results showed a picture of the family obstacles in treating family members with schizophrenia is a financial burden and social burden. Looking at the results of this study of a family in caring for family members with schizophrenia have barriers, obstacles in the form of family burden of caring for family members with schizophrenia, the natural load on the family in this research that the financial burden and psychological burden.
