- The downside is that the concrete partition walls have a high specific gravity that affects the dead load acting on the building. Use of Styrofoam in the manufacture of the partition wall because it has a lighter specific gravity and intended to utilize a hard Styrofoam waste decomposes. In this experiment the specimen used for compressive strength testing of mortar is a cube measuring 50 x 50 x 50 mm and for flexural strength testing is a panel measuring 600 x 400 x 100 mm. Total of test specimen is 3 test object for each variation of the percentage of Styrofoam. It?s used Styrofoam which is grated in machine. Styrofoam as a percentage of added material is 0%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25% of the volume of sand. The results showed that the addition of Styrofoam resulting in decreased compressive strength and flexural strength mortar wall partitions. Average specific gravity of the partition wall with a mixture of Styrofoam on the percentage of 10% to 25% equal to 1956.14 kg/m3.
