  • This research investigates “The Effectiveness of Using Previewing Toward Students’ Reading Comprehension”. This research used experiment research it was conducted based on the main problem, 1) How is student’s reading comprehension at SMPN 3 Kota Serang before using previewing? 2) How is the effectiveness of using previewing toward student reading comprehension? To investigate of the research, the researcher collects data from 60 students that spared into two classes, one class as experimental class and another one is as the control class. The researcher used of quasi experimental design with use the instruments were three stages are pre-test, treatment, and post-test. Population of the research was the Eight Class of SMPN 3 Kota Serang, Academic year 2016/2017. The sample of the research used class VIII C as experimental class and class VIII B as control class. The conclusion of the research is that there is the significant effect of using previewing toward students reading comprehension, it can be seen from the result that researcher has gotten the average score of tobservation = 5 and ttable = 1,67 and 2,39 with the level significant of 5% and 1%. So to is bigger than tt. It means there is significant effectiveness of using previewing toward students reading comprehension.
