- Critical thinking ability has influence for the continuity of learning process toward students’ thinking on effort and energy. But on pre study (observation) result showed that students’ critical thinking ability still weak. The weak of students’ critical thinking ability was caused by the learning process that held in the class. That was the reason that made the researcher interested to rise up the problem. One of the alternatives that used was applying the pictorial riddle model. This research had aim to know the increasing of students’ critical thinking ability. The kind of research that used in this research was quantitative research that completed by the description. The description itself was the way of showing the teacher’s observation research from the students. The population in this research was grade X students at SMK Pasundan 1 Kota Serang. In this research took two classes as the sample. One class for experiment class was grade X MM and the other class as control class was grade X TKJ. The instrument that used in this research was the worksheet of critical thinking and observation. The effectiveness of the pictorial riddle model in the experimental class on the indicators of each question has a different percentage of thinking. (1) give the simple basic explanation 93,87% (high), (2) formulate the answers 87,76% (high), (3) draw the conclusion based on the fact 88,78% (high), (4) the ability of giving the reasons 87,76% (high). The result of research showed that the score of N-Gain in experiment class obtained on average 0.6 meanwhile the score of N-Gain in control class obtained on average 0,25. This result showed that the application of pictorial riddle was better than the usual learning process.
