- The purpose of this study was to determine differences in learning outcomes of students who applied the card sort learning model with students who applied conventional learning models. The method used in this study is an experimental method with a quasiexperimental design. This research was conducted at the State Elementary School in Medan starting from February to March 2018. The sampling technique in this study used purposive sampling. In this study Class III A as an experimental class that uses a card sort learning model and class III B as a control class using conventional learning models. The research instrument was given in the form of 20 multiple choice questions. Data analysis techniques to test hypotheses in this study use t-test and two parties and one party (right). From the results of the calculation of the two-party test the t-test the average difference of two parties shows that t count> t table with α = 0.05, namely 5.95 ≥ 2.00 Then H0 is rejected and Ha, accepted means that there is a difference between student learning outcomes use the card sort model with students using conventional learning models. The results of the calculation of one-party test (right side) obtained by t count is greater than t table, namely 5.95 ≥ 1.67 then Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. So that the learning outcomes of students using the card sort model is better than the learning outcomes of students who use conventional learning models in the subjects of Social Sciences (IPS).
