- The aim of this research was to find out the students’ critical thinking ability on Social Science (IPS) subject after applying True or False model for the fifth grade students at SDN Sukamulya I 2016/2017 academic year. In this research, the research methodology used quasi experimental by using non equivalent control group design. Meanwhile, the sampling used purposive sampling technique by choosing two classes; V A as the experiment I class that used True or False model, while V B as the experiment II class that used direct method in learning process. Furthermore, the data collecting technique in this research used inferential test for the hypothesis. Based on the tabulation of pretest data, the mean of experiment I class was 47, 26, meanwhile, the experimental II class was 43, 12. The data analysis used two sides of t-test at significant level α = 0, 05 obtained t count = 1, 00 and t table = 3,466. Based on the t-test, it could be concluded that there was no different ability between experimental I and experimental II classes before obtaining the treatment. After the learning activity was given on experiment I and experiment II classes, the next activity was posttest. Based on the tabulation of posttest data, the mean of experiment I class was 62, 62. Meanwhile, the mean of experiment II class was 55, 79. The posttest data analysis used t-test right side on the significant level α = 0, 05 obtained t count was 1, 60 and t table = 3, 466. Based on the right side t-test, it could be concluded that the students’ critical thinking ability was better by using True or False model than the direct model in learning.
