- This study aims to determine differences in creative thinking abilities of students in social studies after using the model of the mind map in Class V SDN Panancangan 2 of the school year 2016/2017. The method used is the method of quasi-experimental research design used is non equivalent control group design. Withdrawal sampling technique used is purposive sampling to select two classes. In this study as an experimental class class VA and VC class as the control class was conducted on the test results of the pretest and posttest learning and nontest the form of interviews, observation and documentation sheets. Results obtained using inferential test of the hypothesis. Based on the pretest data processing obtained by the average value of 61.6 experimental class and control class 46.25. The data analysis using t-test two parties at significant level = 0.05 = 0.26 obtained t table = 1.67793. Based on t-test, we can conclude that there are no differences in the ability to think creatively experimental class control class before getting treatment. After learning in the experimental class and control class, each performed during the two meetings is complete, it is then given posttest. Based on the data processing postest average values obtained in the experimental class = 82.2 and the average value of the control class = 61.04. Post-test data analysis using t-test two parties at significant level obtained t = 0.05 1.67793 2.94764 = ttable. Based on t-test analysis of the two parties can be concluded that there are significant differences in the ability of creative thinking of students who use the model mind map with ability to think kretaif students who use models of direct instruction in social studies
