- Article proposes a methodology to developed electronic reference services, through use of instant messaging technologies in real time, including selection of the final users, technology and bibliographic resources that support librarian’s work. In the same way, it expects to conceptualize the Electronic Reference Service, integrating and defining the concepts of instant messaging, Service and Electronic Reference. Finally, it is exposed a case study about Electronic Reference Service developed for students of Master in Political Science of Universidad Tecnológica Metropolitana.
