Daftar Isi:
- By going through the history of translation in Cuba, the author relates how this activity has been developed in our island since the encounter of the two cultures until our days. Mainly focusing her balance on literary translation and upon the base of a periodicity established for the studying of Cuban literary evolution, she points out the characteristics of translation in our country in each of those periods (immediate interpreting/translation, of prevalence with some features of domain first and then of rebelliousness, till it became referral translation in which dependant features alternate). She provides relevant data !and in some cases curious data! to be able to follow this process started at the very first moments of the two culture encounter till the first years of the growing Republic. She devotes special attention to the profuse translating activity of our main writers and intellectuals in the XIX Century during which people like Heredia, Del Monte, Zenea and very significantly José Martí standed out as leading figures.
