- A leader must have the capacity to understand the organizational changes which are inevitable and adjust his leadership style according to the current situation or condition of the organization. Therefore, the good and appropriate leadership style and is needed by an organization, if the organization wants to survive in an increasingly turbulent environment. The literature on organizational leadership often emphasized that transformational leadership has four dimensions i.e. intellectual stimulation, individualized consideration, idealized influence and inspirational motivation, more appropriately and effectively performed in the context of organizational change. Leaders, who are able to run the transformational leadership style well, will give a significant impact or influence to his subordinate�s organizational commitment. In addition, the subordinates are empowered psychologically by their leaders will tend to judge themselves more capable in doing their jobs and influence their organization in a more meaningful way. The main objective of this study was to analyze the mediation effect of psychological empowerment in the impact of transformational leadership on organizational commitment. This study uses the primary data, which were obtained through the survey by distributing questionnaires. The respondents from this study were 120 employees of Kantor Pusat Perum Pegadaian Jakarta, who were included in the purposive sampling criteria. The questionnaires were worth to analyze as much as 100 questionnaires from 120 questionnaires. Scale test results of the instruments used in this study meet the standard of validity and reliability analysis. The results of hierarchical regression analysis of this study indicate that transformational leadership has a positive effect on organizational commitment and psychological empowerment has a positive effect on organizational commitment. When the psychological empowerment was included as a mediated variable, the effect of transformational leadership variable on organizational commitment remains positive and significant. This means that the psychological empowerment is a partial mediated variable in the impact or effect of transformational leadership on organizational commitment.
