  • Motivation is often touted as one of the essential elements to improve the quality of human resources in a company, especially as an effort to improve employee performance. Some research apparently found that employee empowerment and employee recognition has begun to be recognized as the part of motivation, and has a positive effect in improving employee performance. This study aims to determine how employee empowerment and recognition affects employee performance, using motivation as a mediating variable. The findings suggest that there are different results between PT. Bio Nusantara Technology Bengkulu, a manufacturing firm , and PT. Telkom Indonesia Tbk, Cabang Bengkulu, a firm in the form of services. Based on these results, it was found that apparently empowerment and employee recognition more broadly applicable with a positive influence to service companies such as PT. Telkom. Conversely, a positive effect was not found between the two variables to motivation and employee performance at PT. Bio Nusantara Technology. In fact, if applied appropriately, these two variables has been widely demonstrated to improve motivation and employee performance in each companies which applying them.
