- This quasi experimental research aimed to know the effectiveness of cooperative learning of TAI type viewed by student’s understanding of mathematical concepts. The design which was used was posttest only control design with the population was all students of grade eight of Junior High School of Muhammadiyah 3 Bandar Lampung in academic year of 2014/2015 and the research samples were students of VIIIA and VIIIB class that were determined by purposive random sampling. Based on the result of data analysis, it was concluded that the implementation of cooperative learning of TAI type was effective viewed by student’s understanding of mathematical concepts and more effective than conventional learning.Penelitian eksperimen semu ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TAI terhadap pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Desain yang digunakan adalah posttest-only control design dengan populasi adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Bandar Lampung tahun pelajaran 2014/ 2015 dan sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIIIA dan VIIIB yang ditentukan dengan teknik purposive random sampling. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa penerapan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TAI efektif ditinjau dari pemahaman konsep matematis siswa dan lebih efektif dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional.Kata kunci: efektivitas, kooperatif tipe TAI, pemahaman konsep
