- This quasi experimental research was aimed to know the influence of instrumental music at learning towards studentâ€TMs conceptual understanding of mathematics. The design of this research was post test only control group design. The population was all students of grade 7th of SMP Negeri 12 Bandarlampung in the academic year of 2012–2013 that was distributted into eight classes. The samples consisted of two student groups. Group of students of VII.D class as experimental class and VII.H as control class. The samples were chosen by purposive random sampling technique. The data was analyzed by Mann-Whitney Test (U-test). The conclusion of this research was the implementation of instrumental music as accompanist of mathematics learning did not give influence towards studentâ€TMs conceptual understanding of mathematics.Penelitian eksperimen semu ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan musik instrumental dalam pembelajaran terhadap pemahaman konsep matematika siswa. Desain penelitian ini adalah post test only control group design. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 12 Bandarlampung tahun ajaran 2012–2013 yang terdistribusi ke dalam delapan kelas. Sampel terdiri dari dua kelompok siswa. Kelompok siswa kelas VII.D sebagai kelas eksperimen dan VII.H sebagai kelas kontrol. Sampel diambil dengan teknik purposive random sampling. Data penelitian berupa data pemahaman kon-sep matematika siswa yang diambil melalui tes. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan Uji Mann-Whitney (Uji U). Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah penggunaan musik instrumental sebagai pengiring pembelajaran matematika tidak berpengaruh terhadap pemahaman konsep matematika siswa. Kata kunci: musik instrumental, pemahaman konsep matematika, pembelajaran konvensional
