- This research was aimed to know the effectiveness of guided discovery model in improving students’ mathematical communication skill. The population of this research was all students of grade 7 of SMPN 19 Bandarlampung in academic year of 2016/2017 that were distributed into 12 classes. The sample of this research was determined by cluster random sampling technique, that is class VII J as the research sample. The design of this research was one group pre-test posttest design. data analysis of this research used wilcoxon test. Based on the analysis of the data, it can be concluded that guided discovery model is not effective to improve students' mathematical communication skill. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas model penemuan terbimbing ditinjau dari kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 19 Bandarlampung tahun pelajaran 2016/2017 yang terdistribusi dalam dua belas kelas, dengan sampel penelitian ditentukan dengan teknik cluster random sampling, yaitu kelas VII J sebagai sampel penelitian. Desain penelitian ini adalah one group pretest posttes design. Analisis yang digunakan dalan penelitian ini menggunakan uji wilcoxon. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, disimpulkan bahwa model penemuan terbimbing tidak efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa. Kata kunci: efektivitas, komunikasi matematis, penemuan terbimbing.
