THE IMPLEMENTATION OF CUE CARDS IN IMPROVING STUDENTS’ WRITING SKILL

- The aim of this research is to find out whether or not the use of Cue Cards can improve thestudents’ writing skill at the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Moutong. The researcherapplied quasi-experimental research design with 41 students as the sample. The samples of thisresearch were Mipa 1, the experimental group and Mipa 2, the control group which were selectedby using the purposive sampling technique. The instrument of the data collection is a test dividedinto pretest and posttest. The data gathered were analyzed statistically. The result of the dataanalysis shows that there is a significant difference between the results of pretest and posttest. It isproven by looking at the mean score of both tests’ result where the mean score of experimentalgroup is significantly improved from 33.83 to 70.92 meanwhile, control group’s mean score isimproved from 34.98 to 63.91 based on the result of the pretest and the posttest, the researcherfound that the t-counted value is 2.23 researcher found that the value of t-table is 2.02 which showsthat the value of t-counted (2.23) is higher than the value of t-table (2.02). It is concluded that theresearch hypothesis is accepted. In other words, the use of Cue Cards can improve the writing skillat the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Moutong.Keywords: Writing Skill, Cue Cards, Descriptive Text
