USING CUE CARDS TO DEVELOP THE TENTH GRADE STUDENTS’ SPEAKING SKILL

- ABSTRACTThe objective of this research is to prove that the use of Cue Cards develops the tenth grade students‟ speaking skill at SMA Negeri 1 Balinggi. Quasi experimental research design were applied with 60 students as the samples which were selected by using purposive sampling technique. The samples of this research were grade X MIPA2 and X MIPA3. The result of the data analysis shows that there was a significant difference between the result of pretest and posttest. It can be seen from the mean score of both tests‟ results where the mean score of experimental group significantly developed from 40.00 to 61.33. Meanwhile, the mean score of control class developed from 43.00 to 49.00. Based on the result of the pretest and posttest, the t −counted value was found and it was 6.93. By applying degree of freedom (df) 58 and 0.05 level of significance, the value of t −table was 2.02 which shows that the value of t −counted (6.93) is higher than the value of t −table (2.02). It means that the use of Cue Cards can develop the tenth grade students‟ speaking skill at SMA Negeri 1 Balinggi.Keywords: Developing, Speaking Skill, Cue Cards
