- Exploration or searching for gaharu is like gambling full with high risks due to the rough topography (mountainous, hilly terrain, forest hear streams or rivers etc). The harvesters enter the forest individually or in groups of 5 to 25 people. The average duration of searching gaharu takes one to five weeks. Trees infected by microorganisme that form gaharu will be harvested according to the form or shape of word fibres and zise/extend infected parts of the tree. The way people harvest gaharu in natural forest are in the form at scrabbing, chopping, pulling out or even cut the tree. Scrabbing is performed when the infestion intensity in intermediate (wood fibre is yellow or light brown in color). Harvesting by cutting the system or root system is an indication of hight intensity infection and the wood color become blackish brown. Cutting down the tree may become diffcult especially when the tree grows on slopes or hilly terrain, but even on plane terrain where the clear boll is too high to reach. Harvesting by cutting down the tree is done on trees that has been totally or most part of the tree has been infected.Keywords : Teknik Pemanenan, Gaharu
