  • Recently, the number of woman who conduct criminal acts has increased, and these woman are being imprisoned. Imprisonment is an unpleasant condition that triggers a problem of self-adjustment. Self-adjustment problem will disappear in time when the prisoner can get adjusted adjust from the beginning of the imprisonment. This research is aimed at describing the emotions of woman prisoners who experience self-adjustment problem, to see the impact of imprisonment towards the emotion of woman prisoners, and the conditions that influence self-adjustment problem in the jail. The second goal of this research is to see how effective brief psychotherapy is for woman prisoners in controlling their emotions so that they can get adjusted to live in jail. This research involves one subject who has self-adjustment problem, in Lembaga Pemasyarakatan Wanita, Tangerang. The result indicates that changing the perception changes the behavior. Self adjustment during imprisonment can be obtained by changing one’s perception for being imprisoned.
