  • The desires to become more independent and to advance in career make most women hold their marriage plan. This creates new phenomenon, known as single career woman. This research is conducted to explore the dynamic perception of the life partner in single career woman. Phenomenology is being used in this method. Subjects are three single career woman (30 – 45  years old), who reside in Semarang. Data collections are obtained by in-depth interviews, observations, and field notes. The result indicates that partner’s perception makes the women are extra-cautious in choosing their mates.  The women tend to reject, avoid, or even break the relationship with the men whom they found unsuitable in accordance to their perceptions. This tendency will motivates them to keep living as single. However, being a single contributes positively in giving more freedom and more independency in making decisions. On the contrary, they also become more exclusive, emotional, and childish, feel emptier, create social’s mistrust and pressure from society.
