- Floating tin mining in the coastal areas leave waste in the form of heavy metals such as Pb and Cd. Sargassum polycystum is macroalgae which capable for absorbing the heavy metals but in excessive quantities will interfere it’s life. This study aims to analyze the ability of Sargassum polycystum to absorb heavy metals Pb and Cd and to know the factors of chemical and physics waters that influence the Sargassum polycystum. Determination of research stations using Purposive Random Sampling method. The measurement of heavy metals using AAS. The results showed the highest levels of heavy metals in the Sargassum polycystum is lowest is Cd 0.0034 ppm, in the seawater is Cd 0.0024 ppm. Highest levels of heavy metals in the sediment is Pb 0.0791 ppm. The highest value of BCF is the lowest is Pb 1.1752 ppm. All heavy metals Pb and Cd has exceeded the allowable threshold.
