  • The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between selfmonitoring and self-esteem of high school students in Muara Beliti District. The hypothesis of this study is there was a correlation between self-monitoring and selfesteem of high school students in Muara Beliti District. The sample of this study are 227 students on second and third grade of high school in Muara Beliti District who selected using purposive sampling technique. The scale used in this study was prepared by the researcher, using of Lennox’s selfmonitoring’s theory (1985), and self-esteem theory from Gecas (1971). The results of the study were analyzed using Pearson product moment correlation analysis. The significance value of this study is 0,000 (p <0.05) which indicates there is a significance relationship between self monitoring and self esteem and the correlation value (r) is 0,456 indicating that there was a positive correlation between self monitoring and self esteem, which mean that if the self-monitoring is high then selfesteem will also be high or vice versa. As a result of this study, the hypothesis was accepted.
