  • The study was aimed to determine the ability of mathematical reasoning of the eight graders of junior high school in solving problems of PISA level 1-6. This research was a descriptive research which the subject was 31 students of the eight graders of SMP N 1 Indralaya . Data collection techniques used are tests and interviews. The results showed that students' mathematical reasoning ability to solve the problem of PISA categorized sufficiently, dominated by indicator of ability to give allegation, ability of mathematical manipulation, and ability to arrange the proof of it because students have been accustomed to answer the problem by writing the information in question first and doing the calculation mathematically using the science that has been obtained before. While two other capabilities are not dominant to appear in the solution of this PISA problem, namely the ability to draw conclusions and the ability to examine the validity of this argument because students can not draw the final conclusions on the results of his work and the lack of student accuracy.
