  • This study aims to prove the effect of the Cooperative Integrated Reading And Composition model on students’ learning outcomes in Economic subject at SMA Negeri 5 Palembang. This research was an experimental study that used Quasi Experimental Design with Post Test-Only Control Design. The population of the study was all eleventh grade students of social studies classes at SMA Negeri 5 Palembang. The sample of this study used Cluster Random Sampling, and the selected sample was X1 IPS 1 class as an experimental class totaling 23 students and XI IPS 2 class as a control class totaling 26 students. Data collection techniques used was tests and observations. The hypothesis used parametric statistics, namely the sample related t test and with t_obtained^ 8.76 ≥ t_table^ , 1.178 then the hypothesis Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. Then it can be concluded that there was an effect of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition Model on students’ learning outcomes in economic subject at SMA Negeri 5 Palembang. It is recommended that in the learning process, it was expected that students can work in a team to find the main ideas and respond to the discourse that has been made by the teacher in order to achieve the desired learning goals.
