- Word segmentation is one of stages on the handwriting Arabic character recognition process. Characteristics of writing Arabic words and characters are have many variations and similarities between characters, thus the accuracy of segmentation system results is not yet qualified. In this study, comparison of handwritten Arabic words using zoning and WUMI features extraction was compared. The segmentation process applies the method of over segmentation and segmentation validation. The results of handwritten Arabic word segmentation comparation using the zoning and WUMI features extraction, is that the AZZC (Adaptive Zoning Zone Characteristics-based) feature has the highest word segmentation accuracy which is 54.16%.
