- In this research, antidiabetic activity of ethanolic extract of beluntas (Pluchea indica L.) leaves in alloxan induced diabetic male Wistar albino mice has been done. This study aims to determine the potential of ethanolic extract of beluntas leaves to decrease blood glucose levels. The sample animal divided in to 6 groups consisting of normal group (aquadest), positive control group (insulin 1 IU/kgBW), negative control group (sodium CMC 0.5%), and 3 test group (ethanolic extract with dosage 200, 400, and 800 mg/kgBW). The animal models can be stated as diabetic when rats blood glucose level >200 mg/dL after induced intraperitoneally by alloxan 130 mg/kgBW Antidiabetic-activity was tested by measuring on blood sugar levels by using the DTN-410-K fotometer, on day 0, 5, 10, and 15. The result of AUC0-15 and percentage of decreasing blood sugar levels for positive control group are 2557.35 and 51.20%, and 3 treatment groups (200, 400, and 800 mg/kgBW) 2687.92 and 43.266%; 2636.5 and 46.332%; 2505.47 and 54.30%. This showed that the ethanolic extract of beluntas had an antidiabetic activity and there were no significant differences compared with insulin (p>0,05). 800 mg/kgBW dose is the effectivity dose from other treatment doses, because it had the lowest AUC0-15 and the highest perscentage of decreasing blood sugar levels. ED50 of the ethanolic extract of beluntas is 595.55 mg/kgBW.
