  • The objectives of the research are: 1) Describe the source of capital used by paddy farmers themselves and loan capital in Tirta Jaya Village, Muara Padang District. 2) Analyzing differences in rice farming income with differences in the origin of the source of farming costs in Tirta Jaya Village. 3) Analyzing what factors influence the choice decision of rice farmers using their own capital or loan capital in rice farming activities in the Tirta Jaya Village. 4) Analyzing the level of welfare of the farmer's family by calculating the Decent Life Standard (DLS) in the Tirta Jaya Village. The place of this research was conducted in Tirta Jaya Village Muara Padang Sub-District Banyuasin Regency. Location selection taken by intentionally (disproporsional stratified random sampling) with the survey method. The data retrieval research was conducted in january 2018. The samples taken in this study were 60 people out of a total of 327 farmers constisting of 2 layers namely layer 1 was own capital and loan capital. The methods of collecting primary data and secondary data. From the results of research, the income of paddy farmers using their own capital Rp22,241,418.53 while the income of rice farmers using loan capital is Rp14,590,943.24. Statisticaly test t count 2.861 greater than t table 1.671 accept Ho, then there is no difference in the user’s own capital and users of loan capital. Factors that significantly influence farmers' own capital and loan capital decisions are the cost of fertilizer and significant labor costs. Regression analysis of variable X4 is 0.003 and the X6 variable analysis of 0.028 is smaller at the α level which is determined to be 0.05. The standard of decent living needs of rice farmer families using their own capital is Rp. 4,805,917.37 per month with a household income of Rp. 5,945,029.80 per month and the standard of decent living needs of rice farmers' families using their own capital of Rp. 4,718,537.05 per month with a household income of Rp3,724,184.21 per month.
