  • Robot Design “Self Driving Car” Using Compass Sensor and PID Algorithm Budiman (09111001031)Computer Engineering, Computer Science Faculty of Sriwijaya University Email : budiman.bm7@gmail.com Abstract One of works that is given to a robot is to seek a precise and accurate wind direction that ussually can not be done by a human. In this thesis, PID algorithm is selected as robot navigation system that can guide robot in seeking the desired wind direction. Along with simple avoider mothed which is used as obstacle avoidance if in maneuvering the robot detects an obstacle. In this thesis, robot uses some hardware module including a compass sensor, three ultrasonik distance sensor, two DC motors, an arduino board UNO and an 16x2 LCD. Test are done in open environtment and some are done in environtment with obstacle in it. By using PID method which is coded in robot, then robot can find and keep consistency on desired wind direction rapidly with fastest time recorded that is 3,9 second in open corridor. And robot can also avoid obstacle and come back to desired direction position with fastest time recorded 0,9 second.
