  • This study aims at finding out the effect of Problem Based Learning on Higher Order Thinking Skills class XI on the material of the respirotory system in SMA Negeri Megang Sakti. This research used quasi-experimental method with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sampling technique was done with Simple Random Sampling, it was acquired as the research sample that class XI MIA 3 as experiment class and class XI MIA 4 as control class. The data collection instrument is a question of HOTS test in the form of double choice with five choices of answers as many as 15 questions. Observation instrument of instructional learning using Check list of 11 items of observation. While the instrument responders learners use questionnaires with Likert scale as many as 20 aspects observed. HOTS data were tested using the t-test, then the learning implementation data and the learner's response data were analyzed descriptively. This data processing using SPSS 20. Based on t-test results obtained sig value 0.00 (Sig <0.05) so it can be expressed problem based learning model (PBL) has a significant effect on higher order thinking skills (HOTS) class XI on the material Respiratory system in SMA Negeri Megang Sakti. Lesson learned has an average of 85% (very good category) of 11 items observed. While the response of learners has an average of 91.7% (very good and good category) of 4 aspects measured.
