Metallurgy</subject><description>Acid water treatment at PT. Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk is done using active and passive method. The active management by using chemical reagents such as lime tohor, and pH adjuster. In one of the settling pond located in the mining licence West Banko Mine , there is a settling pond that specializes in handling acid water from main sump Pit 3 West Galian Baru, the West 3 Pit MPW Stockpile. Currently the company uses lime (CaO) in the West Settling Pond 3 Stockpile in active mine acid treatment. The advantages of using lime alone is the cost of cheap use, safe for operators in its handling and easy to obtain. However, the use of lime is still a deficiency such as&#xD; packaging that is easily damaged, dusty because it is generally powdered, easy to harden and leave sediment at the bottom of the channel. While the use of pH adjuster for acid mine treatment has some advantages such as liquid-soluble pH adjuster which dissolves quickly, so it does not require mixers, leaving no sediment, and a lowered pH is more stable. The mine acid samples used for the jartest test are useful for knowing lime ratios or pH adjusters, taken on settling pond inlet channels. The required lime ratio is 0,15 gr for 500 ml of acidic acid from pH 3,08 to 6,22. The requirement per month for the average discharge per year 301.800 L / hr is 57.040,2 Kg / Month. The required pH adjuster ratio is 0,11 ml for 500 ml of acidic acid from pH 3,08 to 6,16. The requirement per month for the average discharge per year 301.800 L / hr is 8.366,4 L / month.
