- The purpose of this study are: (1). to identify social economic and technical factors causing peatland forest fires in 2015, and (2). measure the level of economic losses experienced by the community in the village of Pulau Semambu Dusun III. The research method study was survey method of horticultural farmers in peatland area . The number of samples taken as many as 34 people with error rate of 15%. The results and suggestions from the research are the factors that cause forest fires such as weather / climate, length of farming, own capital / borrowed, low education, small number of family members and long years of activity. Fire resulted in decreased income level of horticultural farmers in Desa Pulau Semambu Dusun III
