  • The purpose of this study is to describe the ability of students mathematical representation on the topic of Two Variable's Linear Equation System of eight graders. This research used descriptive research method. The subjects of the research were eight graders in SMP Negeri 0 I Palembang, which consist of 29 students. The results of the research indicate that the ability of students representation on the topic of Two Variable's Linear Equation System for eight graders in SMP Negeri 0 I Palembang is considered low with an average percentage of 26,48%. The lack of the ability of visual representation, that is presenting data or information in the form of graphical representation, with the percentage the ability of visual representation of 12,64%. The lack of the ability of symbol representation, that is creating equations or mathematical models of other representations provided (making the Two Variable's Linear Equation System) and solving problems by involving mathematical expressions ( solving the problem of Two Variable's Linear Equation System by using the substitution elimination method), with the percentage the ability of symbol representation of 18,28% . The lack of ability of verbal representation, that identifies problem situations based on data or representations provide and answering the problem by using , written words, with the percentage the ability of verbal representations of 34,74%.
