  • Barrier layer was defined as the difference between the isothermal layer depth and the mixed layer depth. This research is designed for better understanding mechanism barrier layer formation associated the impact variation such as temperature, winds, salinity and rainfall in the western pacific (156 E, 2 N). The resulting from difference of isothermal layer depth (ILD) and mixed layer depth (MLD) was represented barrier layer thickness (BLT). Average result in year 2015 for BLT, ILD and MLD are 30 m, 58 m and 36 m respectively. BLT show variance 29,02% and the BLT have linked with intraseasonal variation in the 20 – 70 days generate a high BLT value. The correlation BLT and rainfall was only 0.03 which mean not significant relation, however correlation between BLT and zonal wind was-0.48, which mean significant relation between zonal wind and BLT.
