ANALISIS SEMIOTIKA FOTO PADA AKUN INSTAGRAM @PROUD.PROJECT

- The title of this research is “Semiotic Analysis on Photos of Instagram Account @proud.project”. The purpose of the research was to find out the semiotic analysis on journalistic photos specifically feature photos uploaded on the Instagram account @proud.project. This research uses the theory of Semiotics by Charles Sanders Peirce and uses a qualitative descriptive method. Data for the research was obtained from the results of observations, documentation studies, and in-depth interviews with photographic experts. From the results of the analysis, it is shown that there are five characteristics of poverty found in the photo on Instagram account @proud.project, which are (1) inability to meet basic consumption needs; (2) lack of access to other basic life needs; (3) lack of access to employment and sustainable livelihoods; (4) inability to make efforts because of physical or mental disabilities;and (5) social inability and disadvantages. Furthermore, it is expected for the next research to be able to analyze photos on Instagram account @proud.project from other aspects, in order to create various interpretations which will further enrich and broaden the view of the meaning of the photo of Instagram account @proud.project.
