- The purpose of this study was determine the factors that causing changes in the tradition of mbecek (nyumbang) in Beringin Jaya, Mesuji Makmur, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency. Informants were obtained by using purposive sampling technique with the number of informants were five traditional leaders in Beringin Jaya. This study used descriptive method with qualitative approach. The data collection technique used in this study were documentation, observation, and interview. The validity tests of the data used in this study were credibility test, transferability test, dependability test and confirmability test. The data analysis technique used in this study were data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. Based on the result of the data analysis documentation, observation, and interview, it can be seen that there were four factors that cause changes in tradition of mbecek (nyumbang), those were the contradiction in society, the advanced of formal education system, the economic ability of the society, and contact with other cultures.
