  • The coastal of Sungsang influence by various kind of human activities that’s came from Musi River Estuary, Telang River and Bangka strait which has potential to increase concentration some chemical component, especially heavy metals. The purpose of this research is to analyze the heavy metals concentration of Pb and Cu based on the particle size of fine sand sediment (0,150 mm), very fine sand sediment (0,075 mm) and coarse sediment (0,063 mm) at Sungsang Coastal. This research was done on October 2018 and sediment sampling are divided to six stations using purposive sampling method. The heavy metal concentration were analyzed using Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS). The results showed that the average concentration of heavy metals at particle size was 0,150 mm, 0,075 mm and 0,063 mm respectively Pb 8,026 μg/g; 6,815 μg/g; and 7,806 μg/g and Cu 3,573μg/g; 2,890 μg/g; 2,924 μg/g. The highest concentrations of heavy metals Pb and Cu are found at particle size of 0,150 mm (fine sand) that is because by metal input naturally and anthropogenic. The concentration of heavy metals (Pb and Cu) does not have a real correlation (the correlation coefficient is close to 0) with size of the sediment particles.
