  • This study aimed to determine the effect of applying learning-based discovery model with flashcard media on the student’s cognitive ability in life organization system topic VII class of SMP Negeri 1 North Indralaya. This research applies Pre-Experimental method with One Group Pretest-Posttest design. The sampling technique was done by purposive sampling technique. Cognitive ability test data was collected on VII B students with 32 students. The t-test showed that there was a significant difference between the initial test score and the final test of the learner at a 95% confidence level. The result of hypothesis test data analysis by using SPSS application obtained by t-calculated to 37,796 while t-table at 5% significance level with df 31 is 2.04. The result shows that t-calculated > t-tabel is 37,796 > 2,04. The cognitive ability of student’s increases from before. This is evidenced from the average value of cognitive abilities obtained in the initial test of 38.41 while the final test of 81.41, so that H0 rejected which means that there were significant implementation of learning-based discovery model with flashcard media to student’s cognitive ability in organizational system of life topic VII class of SMP Negeri 1 North Indralaya.
