  • Introduction: Breast cancer is the highest new cases percentage of cancer, which is about 43,3% and percentage of deaths from breast cancer is about 12.9%. There are some risk factors of breast cancer incidence which are age, the biological family history of breast cancer, age of first birth, breastfeeding history, age of menarche and menopause. This study aimed to know the risk factors associated with breast cancer incidence. Method: An observational analytical study with comparative cross-sectional design was conducted in 105 hospitalized patients who consist of 35 breast cancer patients and 70 non-cancer patients. The data were collected from interview using questionnaire which were analyzed by univariate, bivariate and multivariate analyzes. Results: The risk factors which are associated with breast cancer incidence are age (p value = 0,003), biological family history of breast cancer (p value = 0,000), age of first birth (p value = 0,000), and age of menarche (p value = 0,000). Meanwhile, the risk factors which are not associated with breast cancer incidence are breastfeeding history (p value = 0,217) and age of menopause (p value = 0,913). The most influential risk factors of breast cancer incidence are biological family history of breast cancer. Conclusion: The risk factors which were associated with breast cancer incidence are age, biological family history of breast cancer, the age of first birth and age of menarche. The most influential risk factors of breast cancer incidence are family history of breast cancer.
