  • Research has been done about assay activity of ethanol extrac ts of matoa leaves (EE ML ) on white male wistar strain rats Rattus norvegicus ) paracetamol induced by observation of serum total bili r ubin elevation . Hepatoprotector test performed using 24 w hite rats w istar strain male which divided into 6 groups of treatment. Group I as norma l control only given 1% CMC Na suspension , group II as negative control given paracetamol 2 g/KgBW , group III as positive control given N Acetylcysteine and groups IV, V, VI as a group test with a difference a dose at 125, 250, and 500 mg/kgBW . The results showed th at ethanol extracts of matoa leav es (EE ML ) significan tly (p 0.05) could lower seru m total bilirubin levels in rats white males induced toxic dose of paracetamol. The results of the average levels of total serum bilirubin of normal control group, positive, negative, extract dose 125, 250 and 500 mg/KgBW respectively was 0.67 ± 0.14 mg/dL , 0.68 ±0.11 mg/dL , 1.66 ± 0.26 mg/dL , 1.34 ± 0.06 mg/dL , 1.15 ± 0.06 mg/dL , and 0.78 ± 0.06 mg/dL . The results showed that ethanol extracts of matoa leaves (EE ML) at 500 mg/ kgBW dose had the best hepatoprotector effects. Effective dose (ED 50) of ethanol extracts of matoa leaves in lowering the levels of serum total bilirubin was 241.72 mg/kgBW
